It might be too late for this already but is it really a good idea to limit this new feature to Bug IDs? Wouldn't it maybe be a better idea to introduce something more versatile like SVN's Properties and make Bug IDs just one possible use case? It's probably best to consider this now while you're at it before adding all kinds of other hard-coded "properties" later down the line...
