Hello Tony,

For some reason, the Debian machine that builds the packages has howl
installed, although the package has been removed from the Debian pool.

Anyway, the configure script notices the presence of howl and (seems to)
use it. I tried
./configure --without-howl
but the config.log shows that there are still checks for howl. Is there
a possibility to avoid howl even if it is installed?

Best regards and happy new year
	Andreas
