[cvsnt] rlog deprecated?

I've noticed that some cvs versions (I think mainly the older ones) tell the
user that the "rlog" command is deprecated. Is this true? The reason I'm
asking is that some of the TortoiseCVS code uses the rlog command to fetch
information about a file prior to checkout, i.e. what tags are attached to
it etc, and I don't think there's another cvs command that could do that -
all the other ones (log, status) require a checked out working copy of a
file.
