Correct. The current version uses BerkeleyDB as a backend (which is technically a SQL database, but only just barely ;~). Post 1.0 (which is probably 3QTR 2003, BTW), there will be some effort to support other backends, specifically MySQL and PostgreSQL. FWIW, the intro to Subversion at OSCON last week was standing room only, so there is definitely a lot of people out there who are not satisfied with CVS (of any stripe), and looking for something else.
