[cvsnt] assertion "key != NULL" failed (when updating working copy)

Community technical support mailing list was retired 2010 and replaced with a professional technical support team. For assistance please contact: Pre-sales Technical support via email to sales@march-hare.com.

Configuration:

The server is a FreeBSD box and the client is WinXP.

WinCVS 1.13.15

cvs version outputs:

Client: Concurrent Versions System (CVSNT) 2.0.24 (client/server)
Server: Concurrent Versions System (CVSNT) 2.0.38 (client/server)

The problem:

Some of the developers are reporting the following problem:

Sometimes when updating + merging the entire working copy with:

cvs update -P -A -d -C -jabranch

cvs updates several files and suddenly outputs the following message:

cvs update: warning: unrecognized response `assertion "key != NULL" failed:
file "hash.c", line 312' from cvs server

Then, WinCVS waits on CVS for a long time until the developer clicks on the
stop button.

I'm unable to reproduce the problem, but it has happened spontaneously
several times.

Does someone have experienced the same problem already?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel
