I really wouldn't recommend it.. it was useful before repository
prefixes existed, but all you'd be doing is mucking up the root of
your C: drive (which if it's anything like the setup we have here, is
the smallest partition).  

The other way is to put the drive in the path using the Unix
compatible synatax : eg. /d//repo/CVSROOT
