You're right, that doesn't make much sense :)

There are a couple of options:  you can set an environment variable 
telling EXT to use an SSH agent or configure the extnt.ini file (in your 
cvsnt dir) to use whichever protocol you really want to use.

This CVS_EXT tells CVSNT to use the plink that comes with Tortoise, but 
you can download plink from the Putty website and use the same parameters.

CVS_EXT="C:\Program Files\TortoiseCVS\TortoisePlink.exe" -ssh -2 -l "%u" 
"%h"
