I've seen this particular message before ("Duplicate key 'y'")- it comes
out of the cvs internal hash table, and in my case was related to a
corruption of the CVSROOT/val-tags file.  For an unknown reason, the
val-tags file had been corrupted to reverse the order of the fields
(tagname "y" became "y" tagname), and so anything manipulating or
referencing tags generated this error message - I fixed it by hand a
couple of times, and then it went away, never to return.

there wasn´t any more information. Just the single line about the
duplicate key without any hints about a file or errorline. Even more
interestingly the checkout works this monday morning.
