I'm guessing that thats a Unix server.  I'm surprised that ever worked, 
since your server is set to a different codepage to the client (and 
until recently that was a requirement for running cvs as it wasn't 
codepage aware).

You must set your language in /etc/cvsnt/pserver to something that 
supports both character sets - UTF8 is the usual one.

eg.

Locale=en_GB.UTF-8
