When I put this last in loginfo:
%<{sVvt}
then the log message disappears, in fact the STDIN becomes *just* the
file-rev-rev-tag list.
It seems like as soon as one uses the redirect to STDIN (%<) then the
previously sent message will be replaced with whatever one specifies
for STDIN on loginfo command line...

But I don't seem to find any reference to a command parameter that
will expand to the log message....

If such a command could be done, e.g. %m, then %<{sVvt} %<m could
perhaps be made to result in the same sequence as the previous
versions had for STDIN with loginfo. Something like:
List of files

Log message

But then of course there should also be a marker so that the log
message is clearly separated from the file list, why not make %<m
produce the following:

Log message:
text entered as message
