Simultaneous editing by different developers of binary files (like doc
or excel files) is not possible!
Or rather, there is no way to merge the changes done by different
editors so that both changes will be kept. Instead the first person to
commit his changes will "win" and the changes done by the second
person will be lost.

CVS must be set up for reserved edits of such files.
