I managed to install a previous MDAC version with the required ODBC 3.0 and cvs works fine now. (Unfortunately there is no way to install SP6a on this server. NT Service Packs are specific for the country language, and for the degree of encryption allowed. We need Spanish, High Encription. The corresponding SP was never released: there is Spanish with Low Encription, and English with High Encription, and both refuse to install. So the server had to stay with SP4 (last one available).
