Wooops, my last mail message was empty.

Well let me respond again.

My problem was magically fixed by rebooting 3 or 4 times. I did not change
anything else. I thought, for example, it might be a problem with my router
but I have not changed that and it is working now. If this happens again, do
you suppose rebooting a dozen times will fix the problem?

Siegfried

Here is some more information:

When I specify

cvs -d :pserver:127.0.0.1/CVS_Pillar login
cvs -d :pserver:127.0.0.1/CVS_Pillar ls -R

It works!

However, when I use the external IP address it does not work.

I get

$ cvs -d :pserver:siegfried at 209.32.44.11/CVS_Pillar login
Logging in to :pserver:siegfried at 209.32.44.11:2401:/CVS_Pillar
CVS Password:

I've checked the fire wall and ports 80, 2402 and 2401 are open and pointing
to the server.

However, when I point my web browser at my external address, that works, I
get my own web page!

I've tried rebooting the server, the firewall and the DSL model. I have
tried starting and stopping the CVSNT service.

This was working fine last week and I don't know what changed! I did not
change anything except install a module for Apache HTTPD.

What could be causing the problem?

Thanks,
Siegfried

Subject: [cvsnt] What could be causing timeouts?

I'm running CVSNT 2.5.02 on my home office windows 2003 server and was able
to successfully check files in an out of my repository from both local and
remote sandboxes last week.

This week, however, I get nothing but timeout for remote access. The web
server works so I know the machine is up. I cannot figure out what changed!

The remote sandbox is Redhat 8 using the cvs client. Like I say, it was
working and now is not. I have rebooted the server and that did not help. I
suppose I will try rebooting the client Redhat machine -- but I'm not
optimistic that that will fix the problem.

I'm just checking in and out 989K byte text files (you guys convinced me to
abandon my 345MB pst files).

Anybody have a suggestion as to how I could diagnose this problem?

Thanks,
siegfried
