Yep.  That's RCS (and hence) CVS keyword substitution, is
well-documented, and is in all versions of RCS and hence CVS.  The
tokens used are reasonable for most current programming languages, but R
is an exception.

other online version of the Cederqvist) CVS manual) for details of how
to disable keyword substitution - adding the file with the '-ko' option
is the simplest approach.
