Ah, ok, makes sense. This seems to be an artifact of what's left from the
permissions before I did a server update over several generations. 

Maybe I bite the bullet and remove all ACLs and start over fresh... There
seem to be ACL definitions in /all/ directories, which makes things a bit
confuse.
