That doesn't explain why the cygwin client doesn't see that delay 
though.  Maybe something to do with an interaction of the way cvsnt 
reads in the file to transmit vs. cygwin cvs that causes more 
interference with the AV on the client?  Maybe some memory optimizations 
having a bad effect on network performance (e.g. buffer too small for 
GBit net)?

John -- Have you tried completely uninstalling the AV client just to see 
if that improves?  Also, you mention this is done with ssh -- are you 
using the builtin SSH client with cvsnt or another external ssh client? 
  Which do you use for the cygwin cvs?
