Thanks for all the help:-) You should really avoid looking into the files stored in the repository... you might be tempted to fiddle with them, and that just leads to problems. If you *really* want to know, they are in RCS format - details at http://www.cs.purdue.edu/homes/trinkle/RCS/index.html The general rule is that only cvs(nt) should write to those files... and only a very few programs should be allowed to read from (e.g. ViewVC and your backup system) -- David Somers typographer/programmer/whatever
