No there's no issues with installing on different drives.. I've 
installed on all sorts of drive letters during testing.  One machine I 
have doesn't even *have* a C:

It sounds like the permissions haven't been setup correctly on the G 
drive, or someone has modified them.  This will affect any version 
except very old ones.  If the server can't read its support libraries 
(and the 'couldn't open default trigger library' error is a sure sign of 
that) then lots of things simply won't work.

Really I should make that error fatal so the admin is forced to fix it.. 
would stop any confusion.
