Community technical support mailing list was retired 2010 and replaced with a professional technical support team. For assistance please contact: Pre-sales Technical support via email to sales@march-hare.com.

The problem is caused by the use of a MySql version (4.1) with a different
mechanism for autentication.
So I have modified the password of my database user using the statement:

mysql> SET PASSWORD FOR
    -> 'some_user'@'some_host' = OLD_PASSWORD('newpwd');

See http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/old-client.html

Now all is right.

Thank you
