AFAIK if you set require encryption on the server this will also mean that you can't degrade down to NTLMv1.  Can't remember if you get the same error though :(

It could be that your network configuration has disabled NTLMv1 due to 
its insecurity, in which case you're have to use another protocol.  Talk 
to your network admins and they'll be able to tell you.
