If you need to change the server then you must install CVSNT (preferably
the latest 2.5.03.2260 version) on your new server.

Then in the control panel create a repository in the usual manner.
Now copy all of the files from the old repository over to the new one
*except* the CVSROOT folder with its files.
The CVSROOT folder fioles you need to handle more carefully because
these scripts may need to be modified to work in the new environment,
so:

- Check out CVSROOT from the new server
- Check out CVSROOT from the old server (in another sandbox)
- Copy the files from the old server that have a revision number higher
than 1.1 on top of the sandbox from the new server.
- Now edit all files that were changed by ths copy and make sure the
contents is what you want.
- Commit the files.

Peter Crowther's remark about the AntiVirus apply also here. You do not
want AV messing with the repository files.

Okay, Thanks! Also, how would one change servers that the repository is
on?

Thanks,

- Copy all of the repository files from the source to the destination
- Go into the CVSNT control panel and redefine the location of the
repository

That should be all you need to do provided you are moving the data
within the same server.

Subject: [cvsnt] Migrating Repository

Hi all,

We are trying to move a CVS repository from one raid to another on one
of our servers. Is there a set of instructions somewhere on how a move
like this would be performed or can anyone offer some information about
what is involved in this type of move?

Thank you,
