1 is the default trunk, but it's not usually expressed on its own. It's still 
valid though - file a bug with ViewVC (cvs up -r1 will work for example).

The number of an alias branch is irrelevant.. that being one of the points of 
using them - you just alias one tag to another and use the alias.
