Error 6 happens before CVS authentication takes place.  It means the
user in question can't access the named pipe - possibly he is on a
different domain without a trust relationship, or he doesn't have
direct access to the server.

The best way of checking this is to get the user to try to access a
drive share on the machine with the repository on it.
