[Cvsnt] LOCKDIR's importance

I am using CvsNt server and the WinCvs client to
interact with it over the ntserver protocol.
Each time I create the database I checkout the config
file and set the following parameters.

SysAuth = yes
LOCKDIR = c:\temp

I guess "SysAuth" is set to "yes" so that the domain
authorizes the user before he accesses the database.
I am not really sure about the importance of the
LOCKDIR parameter. Could anybody throw some light on
that.
