The client is too old to talk to pretty much any cvs server in production today.

The only documentation remaining on 'repository' is the following in the cvs 
client/server documentation:

"Obsolete protocol elements

...

There was a Repository request which was like Directory except it only 
provided repository, and the local directory was assumed to be similarly named."

Any other support is long gone.
