To clarify: Red files in WinCvs mean that the actual file modification
timestamp differs from the timestamp recorded in the hidden CVS/Entries
file. Normally CVSNT is supposed to keep the two in sync when making
changes to either. However, as Tony already pointed out, this is known
to fail when using network shares, most notably on Samba shares, which
is just one of the reasons why this is not supported. Also look here
