And my ViewCvs installer for Windows does just that, it deploys 
sed along with all the other needed GNU tools and the lastest 
CVSGraph etc.
It also sets the system path variable to point to the 
GnuWin32/bin folder where this is deposited.

That is why it "works out of the box" (but after a restart 
because of the change in the system path variable).
