[cvsnt] Unable to checkout CVSNT sources: Input translation failure

I tried to check out the CVSNT sources, but I get the following error:

    ...
    U cvsnt/missing
    U cvsnt/mkchangelog
    U cvsnt/mkinstalldirs
    U cvsnt/protocol_map.ini
    U cvsnt/relnotes.rtf
    cvs [checkout aborted]: Input translation failure

My client is:

    >cvs version
    Client: Concurrent Versions System (CVSNT) 2.5.03 (Scorpio) Build 2260 
(client/server)

but it also happens with build 2238.

The command I used was

    >cvs -d ::cvs.cvsnt.org co cvsnt

Any ideas?
