You didn't actually answer Flávio's question: is the "Installations" directory empty?  If so then -P is doing its job...

If not - please trace the checkout and then trace the update - see if you can "see" why the checkout is stopping - it could be a crash on the server, in which case a crash dump is produced but no error message.
