It's not anything to do with service packs (or any kind of standard software). 
  There are lots of people with such configurations who don't have the 
problems.  It'll be a 3rd party app doing something odd I expect but no idea 
which one... in fact there have been so few people able to replicate the 
problem I really wouldn't know where to start working out what's wrong.
